CHARLIE Davis insists he is prepared to play through the pain barrier when the Terras travel to Merthyr Town tomorrow (3pm).

The ball-playing midfielder was stretchered off during Weymouth’s clash at home against Kettering Town last time out.

But with no break detected on the inside of his shin, Davis is set to nurse a wound he had glued after the victory over the Poppies and has made himself available for selection for manager Jason Matthews this weekend.

Asked for an update on the injury, the former AFC Bournemouth youngster told Echosport: “I went and got it glued after the game and it’s healing but, the stud mark where they have glued it, is tender at the moment.

“I wasn’t best pleased with the tackle, if I’m honest. The lad came over to me when I was going off and said sorry but I think he knew what he was doing.

“There was blood coming through my sock already, so I knew my game was done.

“I haven’t missed a training session or a game until that happened. It’s more annoying and the whole thing is just an inconvenience.”

Quizzed on his recovery, Davis added: “It’s pretty much down to me, I spoke to Lloyd (Beals, physio) and he said, from a medical point of view, the hole can open again if I play.

“The swelling and bruising, if I can manage to play through, is fine. It’s just if it opens up.

“I am not going to sit there and not play in case something happens, so I spoke to Jase yesterday and said, as far as I’m concerned, I’m fit.

“I am travelling and it’s in the gaffer’s hands.”
