STEPHANE Zubar was the star of the show at Weymouth Football Club’s awards night at the Bob Lucas Stadium.

The former Cherries’ defender scooped a hat-trick of awards on the night, claiming the supporters’ home and away player of the season prize, as well as being named manager’s player of the season.

Mark Cooper was on hand to collect his players’ player of the season prize, while Stuart Fleetwood was named top goalscorer and Billy Lowes was awarded the goal of the season prize for his stunning strike against Dorchester Town early in the campaign.

In the reserves, Conor Jevon was named players’ player and top goalscorer. The fans’ prize went to Tiago Sa and Sam Jackson scooped the prize for young player of the season.

Boss Bradley Asagba could not pick just one man for his manager’s player award, so the trophy was shared by Sean Stewart and Aston Butcher.

The club’s A team also handed out their prizes on the night. Matt West was the supporters’ player, manager’s player went to Jack Buckland and Adie Brain was given the accolade of players’ player.

Tom Cherry earned the most improved player prize and Derek Wall scooped top goalscorer – there was also a special recognition award for Tyler Butcher.

Speaking at the event, chairman Steve Mills, said: “There is a positive vibe about the club now that has been missing for quite a while. Personally, I can’t wait for the next season to start.”
