WEYMOUTH boss Mark Molesley is aiming to make the Bob Lucas Stadium a “fortress” this season as he prepares for the visit of St Ives in their opening Southern League Premier match tomorrow (3pm).

The Terras had a mixed record at home last season, but Molesley is under no illusions as to the importance of home games if the club is to improve on last season’s top-half finish.

He told Echosport: “Home games are going to be vital to us. We have got to try and improve our record from last year. The players have got to show how much they want to play for the club.

“Hopefully the fans will respond and we can make it a real fortress. I want the players to be excited to play and I want the fans to be excited to come and watch us.

“St Ives will prove a tough challenge, but we’ll give them the respect they deserve. I’m confident if we approach the game right we have got more than enough to get all three points.”

In the corresponding fixture last season, Weymouth drew 1-1 but Molesley is focused on his own side ahead of the clash with the Saints.

“We know a bit about them but we’ll be worrying about ourselves and I think we’ve got a great chance of getting all three points.”

Molesley revealed that he has a fully-fit squad to choose from for the game, and believes it is down to the hard work of his backroom staff.

“We have got a full squad to choose from. It’s testament to all my staff in the background who have pulled the guys through in pre-season,” he said.
