WEYMOUTH boss Matty Hale has once again used his links with Team Bath to capture the signing of Matt Thorne.
The 22-year-old midfielder missed part of last season through injury but Hale sees him as an “exciting prospect” and is delighted that he has joined his Terras’ revolution.
He said: “Matt had a bit of an injury last season but he was part of the Team Bath squad and is a great passer of the ball in midfield. He is also strong and a very good athlete so I am delighted that he has decided to sign.
“He started his career at Bristol Rovers but he came to Team Bath via Bristol Manor Farm. He handled the jump up in level very well and he certainly has a lot to offer.
“Although he is predominantly a central midfielder he has also got other characteristics that enable him to play elsewhere as well, so I am sure he will turn out to be a very good addition.”
Hale is also close to completing a deal with an unnamed goalkeeper. He added: “We are very close in that regard. The keeper in question is desperate to come to the club and if he can manage to manoeuvre things around with regards to travelling then we should be in a position to be able to announce something later today.”
Meanwhile, Weymouth will travel to Toolstation Western League Division One side Bridport for a pre-season friendly on Saturday, July 11 (3pm), which is expected to be Hale’s first match at the helm.
