RETURN: Matt Bound RETURN: Matt Bound

MATT Bound is back at the Wessex Stadium and could feature at Newport County tomorrow night after putting pen to paper yesterday.

The 36-year-old defender, who captained the Terras to Conference South glory in 2006, has signed on a non-contract basis and is expected to go straight into the squad that travels to South Wales in 24 hours’ time.

Weymouth manager Matty Hale is delighted to have captured his man.

He said: “Everything’s complete and hopefully Matt will be involved in some way tomorrow night. He hasn’t played much in the last year but he’s been keeping himself fit, he’s a leader, a tough lad and has the experience we’ve been missing.

“It might take him a few games to get his match fitness back but he’s a big signing for us.”

Meanwhile, the Terras have been paired with Zamaretto League Division One South & West outfit Bishops Cleeve in the second qualifying round of the FA Cup.

Weymouth will travel to Kayte Lane in Gloucestershire on Saturday, September 26 but the Terras’ chief is more concerned by his side’s upcoming league fixtures.

He added: “I don’t really know too much about Bishops Cleeve so I can’t really comment on them yet. But with Newport County tomorrow night and then St Albans at home on Saturday, we’ve got two massive games coming up and that’s where my thoughts lie right now.”

* Weymouth’s saviour party has been rescheduled for Monday, September 28 (7.30pm).

On the night, 100 sponsorship packages will be drawn out of a hat after 100 businesses and individuals signed up for the Terras Saviour 100 scheme, raising £50,000 for the club.
