THE board of Weymouth FC has proposed to adjourn tomorrow night’s rescheduled AGM until a later date in February.
Shareholders set the date at the last AGM on December 20 after the club failed to supply them with a copy of the accounts for 2009-10.
A board statement released to Echosport late last night reads: “Having considered the situation regarding the proposed AGM scheduled for Wednesday, February 1, the board of Weymouth FC suggests that all parties agree a further adjournment until a suitable date before the end of February.
“The relevant accounts will be lodged with Companies House on Tuesday, January 31 and the club can then ensure that all parts of the jigsaw are in place for a date a couple of weeks hence.
“A further problem is that Nigel Biddlecombe and Mark Coleman cannot attend the meeting on Wednesday at 7.30pm due to business commitments.
“Obviously the meeting can be convened as requested, but it will only serve to allow a further adjournment as the majority shareholders will vote for this on the night. Under these circumstances it would seem sensible to adjourn now and save people a wasted journey to the ground on Wednesday.
“A firm date for the meeting to take place in the proper manner will be announced within the next few days.”
