BRENDON King’s quest to inject some much-needed experience into the Terras’ ranks this summer has moved up another notch with the acquisition of wing wizard Scott Walker.

The 32-year-old was set to put to paper on a one-year deal last night and the Weymouth boss cannot wait to work with him.

King told Echosport: “Scott has followed Barry McConnell across from Truro City where he has been for about six or seven years, and there is no doubt he is another very exciting addition for us.

“Not only is he another one that has been there and done it, but he has great quality and is excellent from set-pieces.

“In fact, his left foot is on a par with Stephen Reed’s, if not better, and his ability to put over crosses from wide areas is fantastic.

“He also works for Exeter City in the community so he knows what we are trying to do here and understands the way we want to go.”

Walker appears to be the final piece in the jigsaw of what is now looking like an impressive midfield quartet that includes fellow new boy Danny Clay, Reed and Craig Duff.

King went on to add: “The whole squad is looking very encouraging but I still have two or three other targets as well.

“I am in advanced talks with one of those at the moment and hopefully I will have some more good news soon.”

Walker netted 13 goals for Truro in Blue Square Bet South last season with nine of them coming from the penalty spot.
