SOPHIE Keech produced another strong performance as she secured second place at the prestigious Henry Cooper Championship held at Nixels Golf Club in Kent.
In excellent conditions, the former Lyme Regis youngster, pictured, shot a very respectable level-par in her first round to put her into the top-five from the outset.
Teeing off early on the second day, Keech produced another well-constructed round of one-under to move into second and comfortably make the cut, leaving her to fight it out with the top-10 girls in the last round.
On the final day, once again with an early start, Keech was on the charge as she needed to make up a huge deficit of six shots on leader Lauren Horsford.
And the youngster made a great attempt at grabbing the title on the final day, at one time getting to six-under, just one shot off the pace, and showcasing some superb short play and solid putting.
However, in the end, Horsford held her nerve to claim the title and both the girls showed great maturity and sportsmanship as Keech finished on a respectable tournament total of three-under.
