TORNADOES of South Dorset diving section have received a boost with the addition of a new coach.

Maria Lochrie has returned to the club where she learnt to dive and compete to take on the role of lead coach for the current crop of talented youngsters.

Lochrie used to dive to county standard and was the county champion for her age group. She has recently completed her level one and two coaching awards and is looking forward to passing on her knowledge and experience to the youngsters.

In addition she is just waiting for confirmation that she will be coaching at the Tom Daley Diving Academy at the Olympic Diving centre in London over the summer holidays.

This would be a great experience for her after being a torchbearer for the London 2012 Olympics.

With the numbers in the section growing, she is a welcome addition to Pete Morris from Wessex Diving Club who has been leading the coaching.

Anyone wishing to learn to dive using a one-metre springboard and three-metre platform at Osprey Leisure Centre can join Tornadoes Diving Club by contacting the club secretary at tornadoessecretary@btinternet.com
