DORCHESTER Magpies Under-15s, are now fully kitted out, thanks to funding from a housing provider which has paid for a full strip for the team.

The funding came from Magna Housing Association’s sponsorship fund, which allocates money to things that will help groups in Dorset.

Craig Fournier, manager for the Magpies, said: “Our old kit was starting to look really scruffy, but we were going to struggle to replace it.

“We were really pleased when Magna agreed to fund the new kit. The lads take great pride in being part of the Magpies and having a strip that looks good really helps them to stay on top of their game.

“We are in the process of planning a trip to play Bayeux Youth in France next year, as Bayeux is twinned with Dorchester, the boys will be representing the UK looking very smart.”

Dorchester Town Youth have just introduced a new recycling system for kits, with the age group of boys and girls ranging from five to 18-year-olds, so the kits are handed down and are recycled for many years.

David Aldwinckle, MHA director, said: “We are keen to support local groups that make a contribution to the community, particularly where young people are involved.

“Being part of the Magpies is great for everyone involved and Magna is very pleased to be able to provide a new kit for the team.”

“If there is anyone else out there who runs a community group they can get in touch with us and apply for sponsorship.”
