DORCHESTER’S Finly Abbott celebrated success by becoming the the 2014 Automatic 50cc Ringwood Club Champion.

The eight-year-old has been in top form all season, and although he was not at his best during the final meet at Tincleton, he did enough to secure the series title.

25 riders in total completed a smaller yet just as challenging circuit in Abbott’s class and podium positions for the championship were still up for grabs with he endured a rare bad day at the office.

The attention was then set on Henry Life as he totally demolished the opposition, bringing home a hat-trick of race wins to score a maximum 135 points.

Abbott chased hard but got no further than second in races one and two and even went over the bars in the final moto, which allowed the much improved Max Standfield to clinch his first runners-up spot of the series.

But it was not to matter as the county town rider had done enough to be crowned champion overall.

In the Junior 65cc class, Weymouth’s Vinnie-Ray Guthrie again blitzed the super-charged pack of racers behind him, finishing first past the post in each heat to cap an overall victory.
