FOUR of Weymouth Swimming Club’s younger athletes represented the club at this year’s Christmas Open, run by the West Dorset Warriors in Dorchester.

Between them, they came home with eight medals against fierce opposition.

The spirited swimmers pulled out all the stops and swam faster than ever before to bring home the results they were chasing. Ellie Wilcox took first place in the under-11 100m butterfly as well as second-placed finishes in the 50m butterfly and 100m backstroke, all with personal best (pb) times.

She also achieved pbs in the 100m individual medley, 100m freestyle and 50m backstroke. Alice Adams took second place medals in the 12-13 age group 100m breaststroke, 50m breaststroke and 100m individual medley.

She also claimed third in the 100m backstroke and 50m backstroke.

She also achieved pbs in the 100m free-style, 100m individual medley and 50m breaststroke.

Lily Amor put in a tremendous performance to swim pbs in the 50m breaststroke and backstroke and Cory Baker, an up-and-coming young swimmer, made his first appearance at the Dorchester open and recorded encouraging times for his future in the Weymouth Swimming Club team.
