WYKE REGIS claimed the South Dorset Sports Association indoor five-a-side schools title, after emerging victorious in the final against Radipole Primary.

Wyke were 1-0 winners in a gripping finale, after Radipole failed to score a penalty to draw level.

Radipole were winners of the Weymouth Area to reach the final, and in their league they beat St Osmund’s Middle 2-1 and defending champions Holy Trinity 3-0.

Wyke Regis were the Portland winners and overcame Dorch-ester Middle 5-2, Conifers 3-0, and St Augustine’s 4-0 to book their place in the final.

Chairman of the South Dorset Sports Association Don Whistance said: “The competition was organised by the Weymouth College sports development officer, Ben Heath, along with the college students, who refereed and co-ordinated the results as part of their course.

“The college and the local schools have supported each other for more than 20 years and once again the competition highlighted the high standard of football in the South Dorset area.

“The South Dorset Sports Association has been running such sporting competitions for many years on a voluntary basis and they have been supported enthusiastically by all the teachers.”
