MARTINSTOWN Cricket Club start their youth outdoor season on Wednesday, April 15, and are welcoming more players to get involved this term.

The club, reformed in 1988, is dedicated to developing and encouraging youth cricket at their Ashton ground.

This season, the men’s first team will be plying their trade in the Dorset Premier League and the club are keen to offer even more cricket for youngsters, including one under-9 side and two under-11 and under-13 sides.

There will also be an under-15 team for the older players, meaning Martinstown have one of the largest and most established youth set-ups in the area.

Marinstown’s youth co-ordinator Lee House said: “We warmly welcome new players of all ages and abilities to our friendly, family- focused club.

“2014 was a great year for the youth sides with two of the teams winning trophies and a number of our youngsters playing representative cricket.

“More importantly, the players had fun and developed their skills while honouring the spirit of cricket.”

All of the club’s training sessions will be led by fully qualified coaches, and kit is available if required.

The under-9s, under-11s and under-13s train on Wednesday evenings (6pm).

The under-15s train on Fridays, starting April 17 (5.30pm).
