PUPILS from Leweston school have enjoyed another exceptional term competing in a wide array of sporting disciplines.

Outstanding results have been generated by the youngsters in a range of sports with a number of girls representing both the school and the county around the UK.

Mollie Parsons, a student in Year 11, was a member of the victorious Dorset team in the tennis county cup, held in Newport.

Perdi Digby (Year Seven), was also recently presented with the Dorset leading junior rider award, which is given to the best under-16 year old show jumper riding ponies.

Other successes have been achieved by the school’s biathletes and the senior cross country team.

A number of pupils have taken part in biathle and biathlon events this term, resulting in some outstanding achievements.

Elizabeth Tolley in Year Nine was ranked as the world’s top under-14 biathlete, and the school registered five team wins at the Dorset schools’ biathle relays.

The team also took home medals for team gold and bronze in the under-17s and under-12s sections respectively, at the National Schools’ Biathlon Championships, held at the Olympic Park in London. A total of 12 girls competed for Leweston at the event and the school was immensely proud of their results.

The school’s senior cross country team has also had a tremendous season.

Since the turn of the year, they have competed in nine different events, winning eight and finishing second in the other.

Wins were recorded at the Downside, Kingswood and Milton Abbey races, the Sherborne Trophy held in the Castle grounds, the Ken Baily races organised by Bryanston School, as well as the Clayesmore, King’s Bruton and Bryanston relays.

With many events lined up for the summer term and a number of girls aiming to compete for Great Britain, it looks set to be a record-breaking year for the school.
