IT HAS been a busy time for West Dorset Swimming Club members over the last few months.

Following a very successful County Championships, where swimmers achieved a significant number of personal bests and medal positions with exceptional performances by Amie Buttle, Noah Brown and Finlay Jarvis, the club’s Novice League team attained a superb second place position in the Dorset League.

A number of the club’s swimmers also competed with great distinction at the National Schools Biathlon at the Olympic Park in London.

Aiofe McCarthy won gold in the under-17s team event and Buttle won individual silver in the under- 19s category.

Club swimmers also recently contested two competitive open meetings in Bristol and Bournemouth against clubs from all over the South and South West.

They delivered great performances with Lauren McRobbie medalling in Bournemouth.

As a result of these performances from all the swimmers, the club is proud of the following competitors for achieving a magnificent number of South West regional qualification and consideration times: George Green, Aiden Guest, Finlay Jarvis, Adelaide Elsom, Amie Buttle, Harry Buttle, Cameron Robinson, Matt Cracknell, Frankie Arrowsmith, Samantha Dunning, Lauren McRobbie, Alex Felton, Ollie Sanderson and Rueben Ellcock.

The club also held the Dorset graded meet at its home pool at the 1610 Leisure Centre in Dorchester.

Again, swimmers from the club performed well, with a huge number of medals won as well as Erin Horn and Damian Barnard being the top performers in their age groups.

The club’s water polo teams also go from strength to strength with Harry Wheeler being a key member of the Great Britain under-15 team and recently winning a bronze medal at the ASA under-17 National Youth Water Polo Championships.

A number of the club’s swimmers also performed extremely well at the National Triathlon championships in Birmingham.
