THE popular Saturday Recreational Gymnastics Club at Wey Valley School, which has been running since September 1996, has resumed for another season.
The club has a friendly, family atmosphere with young gymnasts coming from Dorchester, Portland and Weymouth schools as well as the surrounding areas to take part, ranging in ages from five to 14.
Organised by experienced gymnastics coach Don Whistance, sessions take place every Saturday between 10.30am and 1pm.
Youngsters aged between five and 14 are invited to join up for a 15-week term at the Wey Valley School sports hall.
Whistance said: “The course allows the children of all abilities to experience a variety of gymnastic moves using a range of small apparatus such as hoola-hoops, ribbons, skipping ropes and small balls alongside the use of benches, vaulting boxes, floor and spring boards.
“Children will concentrate this term on planning, performing and assessing their own sequence and tumbling work.”
The children are coached by Lisa Potter alongside junior coaches wishing to obtain work experience or needing to work towards The Duke of Edinburgh Award.
