DORSET’S Perdi Digby won the Pony of the Year Intermediate Grand Prix at Bury Farm Equestrian Village.
All roads led to Bury Farm Equestrian Village, Slapton, Buckinghamshire, where riders from all over the country gathered for the Pony of the Year Show.
This year, the show carried a Jungle Book theme with monkeys and gorillas among the animals to become part of the wings and fences – although the weather didn’t join in, unless you count rain to complete the Rainforest ambiance.
An inside turn spotted and successfully negotiated earned 13-year-old Digby from Dorchester and Kayleighs Star, an 11-year-old coloured mare owned by Shopie Digby, the title.
As this was the combination's first big competition since Christmas, Perdi and Kayleighs Star showed the strength of their partnership, producing two clears, storming around the jump off in just 32.13 seconds.
“She is the nicest pony, I clicked with her straight away,” said Perdi.
