WEY Valley’s 11th annual school sports presentation saw 400 students, staff and parents gather to celebrate a host of sporting achievements.
Individual and team successes were all recognised at the school and sports college’s awards ceremony, which had cyclist Peter Gostelow as its guest speaker. Last year, Gostelow cycled from Japan to England in the name of charity.
On the night, George Scott scooped the inaugural Will Mackaness Memorial Trophy for commitment to sport, in memory of former pupil Will who sadly died last August.
James Almond and Lily Markwell collected the Extra Curricular awards, Dan Austin and Chloe Thomas were rewarded for their dedication while the personality prizes went to Jimmy McKay and Gina Hartley.
PE teacher Stuart Heath said: “It was another successful evening with the range of sports and activities recognised this year again increasing, showing our young people’s involvement, enthusiasm and passion for PE and sport is stronger than ever.”
