Dorchester Middle School’s Year Six boys picked up their third trophy of the year as they retained the Nash Cup with a 100 per cent record.

The county town team fought off competition from schools across Weymouth, Portland, Dorchester and Puddletown to capture the cup in fine style at Redlands.

The champions conceded just one goal in the group stage as they recorded four wins against Radipole (3-0), St George’s (5-0), Wyke Regis (1-0) and St Mary’s (3-1).

Captain Tom Blair bagged a double with Jack Rowland also on target in the victory over Radipole.

Blair took his tally to five with a hat-trick against St George’s, a game in which Rowland and Danny Kelly also found the mark.

A single strike from Rowland saw off Wyke Regis while Josh Moore (2) and Blair scored against St Mary’s.

DMS booked their spot in the final courtesy of a 2-1 win over St Osmund’s in the semis, with Kelly notching a brace.

The county town outfit faced Wyke Regis for a second time as both teams lined up for the final showdown.

The latter were unable to gain revenge and Dorchester Middle secured their third trophy of the season thanks to another double from Kelly, and Blair’s seventh goal of the tournament, in a 3-1 triumph.

Team manager Matt Roberts said: “It was a fantastic performance of effort and endeavour from the boys to retain the Nash Cup.”
