High fives for floodlit launch

WEYSPORTS, in partnership with Pitch Invasion Five-a-Side Leagues, are launching a new community-driven football initiative at the floodlit 3G Astroturf at Budmouth Technology College.

The new scheme is set to launch next month and will see youngsters develop their skills under the tuition of the community trust’s experienced coaches.

The sessions on offer include: * Girls’ Beginners (for ages 6-12) – commencing February 13, Mondays 5-6pm.

* Under-11 Girls’ Academy – commencing February 13, Mondays 6-7pm, in partnership with McDonalds Town Centre Restaurant.

* Teeny Weenies (for ages 3-5) – commencing February 7, Tuesdays 5-6pm, in partnership with Subway.

* Teeny Weenies Development Centre (for ages 4-5) – commencing February 7, Tuesdays 6-7pm, in partnership with Quayside Building Services.

* Boys’ Beginners (for ages 6-8) – commencing February 10, Fridays 5-6pm.

* Boys’ Advanced (for ages 6-9) – commencing February 10, Fridays 6-7pm.

All sessions will cost just £2.50 per child and WeySports’ head coach Tim Davis is looking forward to the venture.

He said: “We are delighted Pitch Invasion is partnering us in this exciting initiative.

“We have tried to offer a variety of sessions to suit a wide range of children from beginners to more advanced players.

“I will be doing a lot of the coaching but I will also be seeing if I can get some guest coaches to assist from time to time and I also want to utilise the sessions to give some promising young coaches experience.”

Christopher Parsons, community development manager of Pitch Invasion, added. “We are thrilled to be partnering WeySports in these new community football sessions for the children of Weymouth.

“With Tim’s incredible commitment for football, this initiative is a fantastic opportunity for children to participate in affordable and structured weekly sessions.”
