BRAVING sub-zero temperatures, Dorchester Middle School pupils Erin Gowers and Tom Bradbury took up the challenge of the Dorset Biathlon – run by Dorset Pentathletes.
Gowers, of Year Five, was first to run a 500m race against competitors from both within and out of the county along the harbour promenade by the Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy.
In the Youth D boys’ category, Year Seven student Bradbury then raced 1,000m, where he sprinted home to a strong finishing position.
The second part of the competition was at the Osprey Leisure Centre pool, with a 50m swim for both athletes.
Gowers swam a determined race to achieve the fastest time in Youth E girls, taking the bronze medal overall.
Bradbury also completed an excellent freestyle race to gain a personal best time and finish 10th overall.
