Dorchester Middle School learn with the leaders

Dorchester Learning Centre football leaders organised a coaching session for Dorchester Middle School students at Redlands Sports Hub to meet the assessment requirements for the FA’s Junior Leader Award.

The event culminated in a small-sided tournament officiated and co-ordin-ated by the DLC students with the Green DMS team winning the round-robin competition with two wins and a draw from their three games.

Redlands manager Lewis Stripp presented certificates to the leaders with DLC teaching staff members Dill But-cher and Grant Neven also in attendance.

Butcher hailed the mini-event a great success and said: “The morning proved very rewarding for both DLC and DMS students alike.

“Our aspiring sports coaches will be much more confident in the future having planned and delivered a successful football event while completing the major assessment for the FA’s introduc-tory award.

“Furthermore the morning has consolidated our rel-ationships within the Dorch-ester Area Schools Partner-ship.”

Sports co-ordinator Levi Dailey added: “What a fantastic morning for DASP schools to have DLC pupils provide leadership to our Year Six pupils at DMS.

“This proves that the DASP schools are working together to get the best out of our pupils in Dorchester.

“The DLC pupils had unique leadership opportunities and completed them well and the DMS Year Six pupils had progressive skill training in football.

“Dill Butcher worked well with his DLC pupils to provide constant enjoyment and motivation to all the Year Six DMS pupils.”
