Under-12 Division One
CHICKERELL UNITED 2
POOLE BAY 1
CHICKERELL came out on top in a closely contested game that was played at a breathtaking pace throughout.
The home side quickly went on the offensive with Jamie West and Luke Voss looking dangerous up front but the visitors' forwards, Ben Fisher and Bradley Wall, were also causing problems with their pace.
United had several chances to break the deadlock but could not get through the Poole defence and after a long ball forward Fisher ran through to put the away side ahead at half-time.
The second half saw the league leaders fight back and dominate possession. The pressure finally told after a great through ball from Louis Smith enabled West to finish brilliantly. The home side sensed victory and began to charge forward.
At the other end the visitors were dangerous on the break and keeper George Simmonds had to make two great saves.
With time running out a draw looked on the cards, but United's determination paid off after a clearance from Poole stopper Luke Handyside fell invitingly at the feet of Smith who beat his marker before smashing in a 25-yard strike to seal victory for the hosts.
