GREAT Britain's number one Beach Volleyball player and reigning Weymouth Beach Volleyball Classic winner Lucy Boulton visited Royal Manor Arts College this week as part of the Sporting Champions scheme.
The Wessex TeamBath player spent two hours with the Year 10 and 11 GCSE PE groups, offering an insight into her life on the World Tour before carrying out some skills coaching.
Boulton's hard hitting fascinated the students and some of them were challenged to see if they could receive her serve but her power proved too much.
After the sessions Boulton stayed on to answer questions and sign autographs, and by the end it was clear to see she had gained a whole group of new fans who had clearly connected with her friendly and cheerful approach to high-level sport.
Event organiser Graeme Sawyer said: "Overall this was a great experience for the students. It showed them how volleyball is played at the top standard and hopefully now it will inspire some of them to see that anyone can do it if they are determined enough.
"The students are now looking forward to getting involved in Weymouth's Tuesday night Beach League which will start up again in May."
