NATIONAL SHOW: Thomas Hardye students Kelley Ireland, Scott Civil and Rosie Smith
DORSET schools shone at the Modern Pentathlon National Biathlon Championships - taking five medals.
Held at Bath University, Dorset students once again showed their prowess on the track and in the pool by putting in consistently high level performances.
St Osmund's Middle School, Dorchester enjoyed particular success through highly- rated year seven pupils Peter Horne and Peter Thornton.
Both lads pulled off personal best times in the 50m swim and the 1,000m run. Horne's run was particularly outstanding and his efforts clinched him a well-earned bronze medal. Thornton moved himself up two places in the rankings to finish 12th overall.
Martyn Bagwell, Head of PE at St Osmund's said: "We're all very proud of the two Peters. They are talented youngsters but most of all they are very dedicated and this is what gets their impressive results year on year."
Another Dorset bronze came courtesy of Beaminster School student Tom Crew who also claimed Best Swim. Jo Puckett just missed out on a medal to finish fourth.
