Under-9 Section Two BRIDPORT 1 WEYMOUTH 7 JAYDEN Corbridge's superb hat-trick helped Weymouth capture the title at Bridport.

Liam Catterall opened the scoring when he latched on to a pass from Bailey Hall but the hosts then replied with a fantastic shot from the edge of the box to equalise.

The visitors could have easily lost their way after that setback but instead it galvanised them and by the interval they were 3-1 in front thanks to a superb header from Corbridge and Billy Mitchell's exquisite lob from the right flank. Charlie Roberts also went close when his screamer from outside the box rattled the crossbar.

Bridport tried to respond in the early exchanges of the second half but two more goals for Corbridge killed off the home side's resolve. First the talented player slotted home after a fine ball from Lewis Mills before grabbing his third with a fantastic half volley.

Knowing the championship was now in the bag, the visitors began knocking the ball around with confidence and it resulted in two more goals, both from Mills. One was a fantastic strike from outside the box and the other saw him produce a sublime touch and controlled finish after latching on to a long clearance.

To their credit Bridport kept going and were nearly rewarded with a second consolation but Adam Parkes pulled off a remarkable save to keep out a shot destined for the bottom corner.
