ONE hundred and forty pupils gathered at St Osmund's School, Dorchester, for the DAS Pyramid Schools Year Three Athletics Day.
Children from Manor Park, Charminster and St Mary's Catholic School all participated in the event where eight athletics disciplines were specially adapted for the youngsters.
The activities were as follows: javelin, target throw, strides, hurdles, high stepper, speed bounce, standing long jump and relay.
Thirty Year Eight pupils from St Osmund's acted as young leaders and managed the teams of children.
They took them to each station, took their register, warmed them up and generally looked after them while eight Year 12 students from Thomas Hardye School, having recently completed their sports leader level one, scored all the participants at each activity.
The event was organised by Demelza Roberts, school sports co-ordinator for Dorchester schools, as part of the work West Dorset School Sports Partnership are currently undertaking.
