PRIMARY school pupils have tackled an assault course to raise money for PE equipment.

Conifers Primary School, in Radipole Lane, Weymouth, held their annual PE 2000 plus event which saw more than 340 children complete laps of the course which included crawling under nets, hitting balls in the air, doing bench bunny hops and jumping hurdles.

Sports teacher Don Whistance said: "The children got their friends and families to sponsor them and they managed to raise a magnificent £3,318.59.

"We have raised £18,000 since we started nine years ago, which is a tremendous achievement."

Each year the children fill in wish- lists stating which PE equipment they would like. This year the varied requests have included netball posts, football nets, new rounders bats and a new mini-bus to support the sporting ethos of Conifers Primary School.

The top two fundraisers from each Year group receive a trophy.

From Year Six, Lauren Gray collected £100, Eloise Read £65, Year Five: Tiffany Fitton £127, Joseph Maguire £100, Year Four: Megan Desmond £103.50, Callum Hattersley £85, Year Three: Kane Law-Smith £65.60, Niamh Kelly £39.35, Year Two: Shana-Louise Tracey £21, Maize Gough £21, Year One: Amy Jackson £100, Caila Kirkman £54.30 and from the Reception Year group: Leoni Allington £58.90 and Alana Sanders collected £50.20.

The Top Class Fundraiser Trophy went to class 4W for the third year running.
