Congratulations on reporting the proposed march in support against the closure of The Kube art gallery by lovers of art (Daily Echo, January 1).
The people of Poole realise that the loss of this valuable facility will not be replaced at a later stage.
Poole is not a cultural wasteland but a town of intellectual folk who will be heard on this important issue.

In times of austerity one must think of how to re-boost the economy and creative industries is the only industry that is continuing to grow in the downturn and the UKs biggest export. Losing the Kube might save a bit of cash now but will push graduates, jobs, culture and a valuable educational resource out of Dorset and damage our local economy in the long run.
The closure is no big deal. After all there is the lighthouse and Russell-Cotes galleries. In times of austerity one must make cut backs and the arts are a luxury.
