For crying out loud, we don't want a town crier

OYEZ, oyez! Who on earth wants a town crier on Portland? Not me.

Richard Denton-White says ‘it is not going to cost the council tax payers much’.

I for one don't want to pay anything towards it as I expect many others don't.

I am sure there is something better to waste our money on.

I suggest we borrow Weymouth's if we ever have the need to use one.

The whole idea of a Town crier is a joke and any cost is too much as far as I am concerned they will want Beefeaters at Portland Castle next. The idea of a town crier was to relay any news or important messages to the townspeople nowadays we have TVs/internet/phones/
newspapers Oh and by the way we also have a little thing called an amplifier which can make mini mouse sound like Fred Flintstone. Just another daft idea from the P.T.C clowns.

It will be a total waste of money regardless of how much or little is required. Surely there are more important things to sort out? If there's not then the money should go to reducing Council Tax bills next year. It shouldn't be spent just for the sake of spending it and it definitely shouldn't be spent on crackpot ideas such as a town crier. Time to scrap the Portland Town Quango if this is the kind of lunacy that inspires in them. Follow that by scrapping the district councils as one Local Authority for Dorset is all we require.
