I'm giving my Chideock speed camera refund to the Haiti appeal

I have just received, after some prevarication my £60 cheque for the refund of my speeding ticket from the notorious Chideock speed camera.

This I regard as a moral victory over an unfair and ineffective system.

It was for me never about the money.

I am fortunate that £60 will not make much difference to my life.

There are many to whom that much is a big hit on their weekly budget and they, unlike people in the system or wealthy media personalities, have to take it without being able to challenge it.

However, I am sure that there are many who are in a similar position to me.

I therefore invite all those who can, and who stuck out on principle, to donate the money to the disaster appeal for the Haitian earthquake victims, as I am.

What do you want? A medal for sticking up for the principle that you feel you can pick and choose the laws that you wish to obey. The only thing wrong with the "notorious Chideock speed camera" was the wording on a piece of paper. The people speeding through Chideock were still breaking the law and not giving a **** for anybody else. The only reason you and the others got off was because of a loophole and not a matter of principle.

If you had killed someone when you were speeding, what would you be donating now?

So now we boast about breaking the law and getting away with it because of an administrative error. I am sorry but I think you are a very sad person as it’s not your money to give.
