I MUST take issue with the comments made by Steve Davis, chief executive of Portland Port, made in the report of the palm oil demonstration.
Can he direct Weymouth and Portland residents to the evidence that backs up his claim that ‘the plant poses no risk to health’ and make available to the public the consultations he has had with the Environment Agency and Natural England.
His comment that ‘the plant will use certified fuels’ contradicts the current understanding that there is no independent agency that can certify the source of palm oil.
Of the 200 jobs created to build the plant he failed to say how many, if any, would benefit the local workforce. As for the ‘silent majority’ we are waiting to hear from you.
