Will support for the Terras end after 66 years?

FOR 66 years I have followed and supported Weymouth Football Club and had some wonderful times doing so – but today I am saddened by the plight of the Terras.

It is now a fact that the club will be relegated to the Zamaretto league where the average attendance is 350.

Recently the attendances at the Wessex Stadium have been below 400, so I predict that next season the gate will be around the 300 mark.

Admission prices will probably drop 20 per cent.

Can the Terras survive on this single income? I hope they can, if not I wonder what the future holds.

Chairman George Rolls predicts the team will finish up mid-table next season. I would like to think so but I have doubts about that.

With so little money coming into the club they will be forced to field a team of local players who won’t stand a chance in the Zamaretto league.

This league consists of a lot of strong professionals and semi-professional teams who will have a strong advantage over Weymouth and consequently they could once again find themselves bottom of the league and supporters not turning up to watch them.

What the Terras need is an injection of money in order to bring in good players who can win us games and get the team promoted back to the Conference South in Season 2011-2012.

Whatever happens I will be there next season supporting the lads.

However, if we are relegated again I will call it a day and spend Saturdays sat by the fire in my favourite armchair with a brandy and Canada dry, watching the sport on TV.

Am I the only one with this outlook for the future of Weymouth FC? What are your views, Echo readers? I am interested to know.

Weymouth football club, didn't realize that there was one, knock it down and build a better ASDA.
