No, Mr C Johns of Bridport, I don’t wish I lived in Bridport (Have Your Say, February 2).
I happen to have been born there but I just love living in Weymouth and I am delighted that the Olympics are coming this summer.
The rest of the world will be able to see what a wonderful place Weymouth and Portland is.
Yes, we have had to put up with some disruption while the road improvements took place, but what an improvement.
I personally welcome all our visitors to the Olympics and how do you know they won’t return?
If only a small percentage of them choose to revisit then surely that has to be good for the local economy?
What about all those who will see the beauty of Weymouth and Portland on their televisions and perhaps plan to visit here too?
We’re a holiday resort and attracting tourists is what it’s all about.
You don’t have to pay a fortune to watch the sailing.
There are several free vantage points and I shall be using one of them.
I don’t profess to know the ins and outs of sailing, but I’ll be there offering my support to them.
Let’s face it, the Olympics are only here for a matter of weeks and very soon it will all be over.
No one is making you come to Weymouth, so I suggest you don’t, but leave it for those who love it.
