Parking fees are not all that high

I REFER to the letter ‘Uproar at overhaul to parking’ (Dorset Echo, February 4).

With reference to residents’ parking, Coun Peter Farrell suggests that the ‘costs of parking permits would rocket’.

They haven’t gone up much in the past couple of years under WPBC have they councillor? Can you pledge charges will be checked for the foreseeable future? I don’t think so. Residents’ parking is just another cash cow for whoever is administering and collecting the money.

10 years ago you could pop to the shops, or even go out for a day and park free, but since parking controls where handed over to local councils, more yellow lines have appeared and where there are non you have to pay to park, a traffic wardens main job was to facilitate the flow of traffic, now all they do is give out tickets.
