NOTIFICATION OF ARTICLE 4 (1) DIRECTION AFFECTING LAND AND PROPERTIES IN AND ADJOINING THE DORCHESTER CONSERVATION AREA
TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING (GENERAL PERMITTED DEVELOPMENT) (ENGLAND) ORDER 2015 AS AMENDED DORSET COUNCIL (DORCHESTER CONSERVATION AREA) ARTICLE 4(1) DIRECTION 2019
Notice is hereby given that on 18th December 2019 Dorset Council made a direction under Article 4 (1) of the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) Order 2015 (as amended). The Article 4 Direction has immediate effect upon it coming into force. A public consultation has started on 18th December 2019 in respect of this Direction. This will end at midnight on 14th February 2020. Representations can be made to Dorset Council in relation to the Article 4 Direction during this period. Comments received will be given careful consideration in particular in relation to whether the Article 4 Direction should remain in force.
The Direction applies to land and properties in and adjoining the Dorchester Conservation Area in: Acland Road, Albert Road, Alexandra Road, All Saints Road, Arbutus Road, Bridport Road, Cornwall Road, Culliford Road, Culliford Road North, Dagmar Road, Darners Road, Duke's Avenue, Durngate Street, Edward Road, Great Western Road, Heathcote Close, Herringston Road, High Street Fordington, Holloway Road, Icen Way, King's Road, Lime Close, Linden Avenue, London Road, Maud Road, Maumbury Road, Monmouth Road, Mountain Ash Road, Olga Road, Pound Lane, Prince of Wales Road, Queen's Avenue, Robins Garth, Salisbury Field, Salisbury Street, South Walks Road, St George's Road,
St Helen's Road, Victoria Road, Victoria Buildings, Victoria Terrace, Weymouth Avenue, Wollaston Road, York Road, York Terrace Barnes Way.
The Direction applies to any gate, fence, wall or other means of enclosure adjacent to a highway or open space and concerns:
* development consisting of the erection, construction, maintenance, improvement or alteration of a gate, fence, wall or other means of enclosure; and / or

* any building operation consisting of the demolition of the whole or any part of any gate, fence, wall or other means of enclosure

The effect of the Direction is that development to which it relates no longer has the benefit of permitted development rights. In such situations, it will now therefore be necessary to obtain planning permission from the Council in order to carry out that development.
