Temporary Closure of Public Footpath 68 & South West Coast Path, Portland
DORSET COUNTY COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All pedestrians will be prohibited from proceeding along Public Footpath No 68, Portland from grid reference SY 699 714 to grid reference SY 702 724, a distance of approximately 1,500 metres. The order is needed in order to comply with Health and Safety Regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to Highway Users. It will come into operation on the 22nd June 2017 for a period of 26 weeks, until 21st December 2017. But it may be extended, with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport, if necessary.
This closure is required due to a landslip, making the footpath unstable.
For the period of this footpath closure an alternative route will be signposted.
