A social enterprise based in Bridport has branched out across the county border.

Local Food Links is now serving freshly prepared schools meals at Winsham Primary School in Somerset.

The company has been offering meals to schools in Dorset for more than 10 years, and this is the first school they have partnered with outside the county.

Local Food Links has developed a model that enables small, rural schools without kitchens of their own to enjoy freshly prepared meals. This service is ideal for Winsham Primary School who only have 35 children on the register.

With a nutritious and varied menu including everything from roast dinners and homemade pizza to stuffed peppers and chocolate brownies, pupils at Winsham Primary are enjoying a tasty and varied lunch.

Interim headteacher Sandra Leggett said: “The children are enjoying the new school hot meals provided by Local Food Links. They say they are ‘yummy’!”

Parents can relax knowing the children have had a healthy lunch that keeps them well fuelled for an afternoon of learning. Local Food Links is focused on providing meals that offer a genuinely healthy and well balanced alternative to packed lunches or processed meals.

Caroline Morgan, CEO at Local Food Links said: “I am passionate about childhood nutrition and ensuring every child has the opportunity to have a healthy and enjoyable meal at school. We are delighted to add Winsham to the 34 schools we already work with.”
