The main sponsor of this year’s Dorset County Show has been announced.

South West insurer Cornish Mutual has been announced as the show’s headline sponsor not only for this year but for the next three years.

Cornish Mutual insures farms and rural businesses across Dorset, Devon, Cornwall and Somerset. As a mutual organisation, Cornish Mutual does not have shareholders and is owned by and run for the benefit of its members.

It is the only chartered insurer based in the South West and was recently named in the UK’s Top 100 insurance companies.

Alan Goddard, managing director of Cornish Mutual, said: “Cornish Mutual’s ethos has always been to support the region’s agricultural community.

“With a growing number of Cornish Mutual members in Dorset, this is exactly the right time for us to become headline sponsor of the Dorset County Show.

“We are really looking forward to working with the show team, fellow sponsors and exhibitors to make the 2018 Dorset County Show a huge success.”

Will Hyde, secretary of Dorset County Show, added: “We are proud to have Cornish Mutual on board as our headline sponsor for the next three years. As a company with farming roots and being a farm insurance provider, it was the perfect fit for the Show to join forces with Cornish Mutual.

“The countdown has begun until this year’s show and the team behind the event has worked hard to provide a jam-packed schedule over the weekend, including a new main ring attraction of camel racing.

“Come rain or shine there is a variety of attractions, livestock, and fun for all the family at Dorset County Show.”

As well as camel racing in the main ring there will be show jumping, a funfair and a large range of more than 450 trade stands.

Visitors will als be given the opportunity to learn how farming plays an important part in people’s live at The Fabulous Food and Farming Education Area which is also new this year.

Dorset County Show is organised by Dorchester Agricultural Society and will be held at the Dorchester Showground in Cokers Frome on Saturday, September 1 and Sunday, September 2.

The show celebrates the best of agriculture and rural life and attracts more than 60,000 people over its two days.
