AN EDUCATIONAL publisher from Dorset has scooped an award at a ceremony where it shared the stage with online giants like Amazon, Google, Microsoft and IBM.

PG Online, based in Tolpuddle, produces digital resources to support teachers and schools.

It was announced as the winner of the Presence Learning and Teaching category at the international Reimagine Education Awards, held at a conference in San Francisco.

It was selected for the award from among 1,184 projects from 39 countries, evaluated by 160 international judges. As well as Amazon Web Services, Google, Microsoft and IBM, it was nominated alongside institutions such as Wharton Business School, Harvard, MIT, the University of Cambridge and Imperial College London.

Dan Vivian, commercial director at PG Online, said: “This is huge for us, both to be recognised globally, but also to see how universal the problem of lesson resource duplication is across the world.

“So many of the delegates at Reimagine Education identified with the waste of precious teacher time from this duplication and saw our solution as being simple and elegant. Our aim is to change education for the better forever, supporting teachers as much as we can. This award will give us more confidence to grow as a business; to help more teachers to give more students the best support possible and ultimately improve their grades.”

The Presence Learning and Teaching category recognises approaches that improve learning outcomes in traditional learning environments, rather than by distance or e-learning.
