• THANKS to the residents of Broadmayne and West Knighton, £250 was raised at the annual coffee morning for a Christmas lunch for the 36 members of Cowleaze Luncheon Club.

The older residents of the villages attend a monthly lunch when they pay for the cost of food, cooked by volunteers.

At Christmas, the volunteers like to give them a free meal and a small gift to celebrate the season.

The wonderful sum raised this year, along with a generous donation of £80 from the Broadmayne Tuesday Coffee Club, will ensure that members will have a good time at their December lunch.

  • ON Friday, November 28 a ‘Refresh your Driving Skills’ course will be held in Broadmayne Village Hall.

The three hour presentation commences at 10am and will give drivers of all ages and experience an opportunity to refresh their skills and knowledge and pick up some eco-driving tips.

Topics for discussion will include new driving techniques, changes in the law and highway code, keeping fit to drive, motorways and roundabouts.

The course is free to attend as part of a Dorset County Council initiative.

In addition, details of how to book a 90 minute one-to-one practical drive in your own car will also be available. The route usually includes town and country driving, when you will be able to ask the instructor for help with various functions, for example parking or reversing difficulties and the aim is to update and improve driving skills to reduce the chance of becoming involved in a collision.

To book a place contact the Road Safety Team at Dorset County Council on 01305 224558 or email roadsafety@dorsetcc.gov.uk.
