THANKFULLY all the snow had disappeared in time for the January meeting of Broadmayne and West Knighton WI, when the President, Wendy Stent wished everyone a happy and healthy New Year and welcomed new members Pearl and Deb.

Also welcomed was Mrs Abbigail Langstone-Wring who trained at the Centre for the Study of Complementary Medicine in Southampton and the subject of her talk was “How our Bodies Work”.

The introduction on arthritis and possible causes created great interest and many questions were asked, in particular the possible effects of different food groups on the condition.

Abbigail demonstrated the technique of Applied Kinesiology on a couple of willing volunteers, Margaret and Dena and produced a comprehensive collection of books relating to her subject, which were examined in detail over coffee.

Margaret Mortimer thanked Abbigail for her excellent talk and for giving members “food for thought.”

After the break, members were entertained by several very high quality poems and limericks from Margaret, June, Deb, Deanna and Dena.

Members were reminded about the regular friendly skittles game, the craft group meeting and the Spring Council Meeting in Poole when the speaker will be Erin Pizzey.

The speaker at the February meeting will be Rob Curtis, talking about “Inn Signs and Pub Stories” and committee members will give a brief insight into their roles within the WI.

All meetings are held in Broadmayne Village Hall at 7pm and further information can be obtained from the President, Mrs Wendy Stent on 01305 852795.
