CERNE ABBAS HISTORICAL Society: The next talk will take place on Thursday, June 28 at 7:30pm in the Village Hall.

David Score, a professional archaeologist and Project Manager with Oxford Archaeology will be the speaker.

He will tell the audience about the excavations and recent updates on the Iron Age settlement and ritual landscape which was discovered along the route of the Weymouth Relief Route at Ridgeway Hill.

Amongst other finds these excavations led to the discovery of a mass burial of over 50 Vikings!

Don’t miss what promises to be a fascinating evening.

Non-members are as always welcome against payment of a small fee.

BOWJANGLES are coming to the village – put the date in your diary!

They are a highly acclaimed string quartet who will perform their brand new Bowlympics Game Show.

We are not just talking playing, singing and dancing – various Olympic disciplines will be performed as well in what promises to be a hilarious show.

This Artsreach production will take place on Friday, July 13 in the Village Hall and is eagerly anticipated.

DID you know that Police Community Support Officer Sarah Pilcher holds once monthly drop-in sessions at Abbots Tearooms?

She is available between 10:30am – 11:30am on the following dates: Tuesday, July 17, Tuesday, August 21 and Tuesday, September 18.

Pop into Abbots for a friendly chat with her, perhaps you would like to report a problem, have a specific query answered or just find out more about her work.

On occasions, a representative from POPPs (Age Concern) and Magna Housing Association will also be in attendance.

BUCKLAND NEWTON AN OPEN week-end on Lankham Bottom Reserve is taking place from Saturday, June 30 until Sunday, July 1.

The week-end will start with a barbecue and moth trapping at 7pm.

Camping facilities are available for those wishing to stay overnight.

Please bring all your camping gear and food and drink to share.

At 9am on Sunday the analysis of the previous night’s moth catch will take place, refreshments will be available around 10:30am.

Regardless of whether you have participated in the moth catch or not, everyone is very welcome to take part in a guided walk at 11am on Sunday.

This will be a unique opportunity to really appreciate the wildflowers, butterflies and other wildlife of the area.

You are welcome to bring a picnic to enjoy on the reserve , after the walk.

Lankham Bottom is situated off the minor road from Cattistock to the A37, about half a mile west of the A37.

Please park inside the metal gate.
