Puddletown

  • PARISH calendar 2011 is now available complete with an envelope if you wish to send it to friends.

The calendar has been master-minded by Roy Bennett, and contains many familiar faces and activities within its pages.

It costs £5, and is available from the Thursday pop-in coffee mornings, or by contacting Diana Wilson on 01305 848 510.

  • HARVEST thanksgiving service will be on Sunday, September 26 at 6pm

This will be followed by a harvest supper in the village hall.

  • YETTIES are in concert in the village hall on Friday, October 29.

There will be a bar and ploughman's supper.

The Yetties will be retiring, so this will be your last chance to hear them in Puddletown.

  • CONGRATULATIONS to Phil and Irene Eady on the occasion of their diamond wedding anniversary.

They generously invited donations for work on the church tower instead of presents, and raised over £200.

  • DORSET historic churches trust cycle ride this year is on Saturday, September 11.

It is the fiftieth anniversary of the trust, so please make a special effort to take part by obtaining sponsors and cycling, walking or riding around your own chosen route, calling in at churches on the way.

You could also help by spending some time at the church to welcome walkers and riders with refreshments.

  • BELLRINGING practices start again in September on Wednesday evenings at 6.30pm.

  • JUST a last-minute reminder about the flower festival in the church entitled Fair Waved the Golden Corn on Saturday, August 28, Sunday August 29, and Monday, August 30 from 11am until 4.30pm.

  • THIS year's Pop in Place open gardens event was in loving memory of Pamela Hoare, and an amazing response was received from local businesses, and from people who opened their gardens, made cakes, donated raffle prizes, donated produce and bric-a-brac and helped on the day.

The event raised £1,500 for the Alzheimer's Society, and Alison Bennett thanks everyone for making the event such a worthy tribute to her wonderful mum.

It is now planned to hold the open gardens day every two years, and the next one is planned for Sunday, July 15 2012.

  • HEALTH walks start again after the four-week summer break on Tuesday, August 31 at 10.30am in the main car park.

New walkers are always welcome.

Walk at your own pace with trained walk leaders.

There are no steep hills or stiles.

The walks last for about one hour, and there is no charge.

  • POP IN Place presents Performer of the Year competition on Saturday, September 11 at 6pm at the Drax Hall.

This year the competition is in two parts - the under 18s and the adults.
