Affpuddle

  • TWELVE-YEAR-OLD Emma Menzies recently swam from Pottery Pier to the castle, Brownsea Island.

This was an open water swim of just over two miles.

She elected to do this charity swim as part of Puddletown Middle School's support for Oxfam Unwrapped, a world-wide charity supplying goods and services to needy causes throughout the world.

Emma raised over £150. Congratulations Emma!

  • PHILIPPA Thorniley thanks everyone who generously sponsored her in the Weldmar Hospice midnight walk.

She has raised £1,847.50, exceeding her wildest dreams.

Puddletown

  • THE monthly lunch in the village hall in aid of church funds is on Monday, November 8 from noon until 1.30 pm.

  • POP IN coffee mornings are held every Thursday in the church room from 10 am until noon.

Rosemary will have her card stall there on November 4.

  • CHRISTMAS Cakes and Pudding orders should reach Glad before the middle of November please. Contact her on 01305 848646.
  • A PUDDLETOWN Calendar makes a good Christmas present.

  • A CHRISTMAS wreath workshop will be held in the village hall on Friday, December 3, starting at 9.30am.

There will be wreath rings, wire, moss and greenery available.

Extra holly, pine and moss is always useful if you have any to bring along.

The idea is to make one for the Christmas fair and one for yourself.

  • CHRISTMAS lunch for the over-seventies will be held in the village hall on Wednesday, December 8, noon for a12.30pm start.

If you would like to come, please let Glad Antell know on 01305 848646, with your choice of main course, which will be roast turkey or roast beef with all the seasonal trimmings.

We are lucky to have the children from St Mary’s Middle School once again to serve the food and provide entertainment afterwards.

We also understand that Father Christmas plans to look in!

  • THE Christmas fair and coffee morning will be held in the village hall on Saturday, December 11 from 10am to noon.

Stalls are available to rent for £6.

  • A BURNS Night supper is to be held in the village Hall on Tuesday. January 25 with the Rainbarrow band.

Bere Regis

  • BONFIRE night will be celebrated by Bere Regis First School with a bonfire and firework display on Saturday, November 6 from 6pm until late.

Gates will open at 6pm, and there will be a disco, followed by the lighting of the bonfire and fireworks.

There will be a barbecue and a bar.

Children under 14 are free when accompanied by an adult.

  • CHRISTMAS trees are offered by the parish council to those people who will display them outside their houses to brighten up the village throughout December.

  • RAGAMUFFINS pre-school is on the lookout for flower pots of various sizes, if you have any that you would be willing to donate

The pots are to make the arms, legs, bodies and heads for flower pot men to decorate the pre-school's garden area.
