Affpuddle

  • THE annual gift day and coffee morning for St Laurence's church was as always a happy and successful event held at Blackdown House.
  • AN EDUCATION, the film shown in Briantspuddle village hall for Purbeck film festival was an excellent evening's entertainment followed by supper.

A profit of £262.56 was made for the hall building fund.

Puddletown

  • YETTIES concert in the village hall was a splendid evening with wonderful songs, lots of laughter and a little touch of sadness as it was the last appearance of these much-loved Dorset performers before their retirement next April.

Almost £800 was made, to be shared between St Mary's church and the village hall.

A CHRISTMAS market is to be held at St Mary's Middle School on Saturday, November 27 from 10am until noon in the school hall.

This will be a fantastic opportunity for some festive shopping.

There will be lots of craft and local produce stalls, original artwork from local artists, gifts, jewellery, Christmas food, cards and decorations.

There are also children’s games, raffle and tombolas.

Come along and enjoy coffee and mince pies whilst listening to carols from the school choir.

  • BEAUTY and the Beast is the title of the Artsreach performance to be held at St Mary's Middle School on Saturday, January 22.

This will be performed by the Mars Miracle Theatre Company.

  • MINI-FOOTBALL club is open to all boys and girls between the ages of six and 12 years of age, and is run on Saturday mornings between 10am and noon.

There are fully qualified coaches, and the cost is just £1 per week.

Any potential new members can have an introductory free week.

  • A SERVICE in the church to celebrate the completiion of the work on the tower will be held on January 23, with a peal of bells, and the Archdeacon of \\\\\\\\\\sherborne, Paul Taylor, will lead it.

Tolpuddle

  • BINGO for Christmas will be held in the village hall on Friday, December 3.

Doors open at 7pm, eyes down at 7.30pm.

There will be lots of prizes and a daw.

The top House prize will be a turkey, to be collected on Christmas eve.

Tickets cost £4, and this includes entry, three books for the bingo and refreshments.

  • WASSAILING is ana anacient west country tradition whereby orchard trees are serenaded to ensure a good crop for the following year.

Traditional songs are sung, and the trees area adorned with toast dipped in mulled cider.

Wassailing, organised by the village show committee, will be held on around January 15.

  • A CHRISTMAS coffee morning will be held in the village hall on Saturday, December 4 from 10am until noon.

Father Christmas is paying a visit, so come along and bring the children.

  • A QUESTIONNAIRE concerning the future of the village hall has been circulated, and it is really important that the hall development committee receives your thoughts about the state of the hall and needs for the future.
