Puddletown

  • A FESTIVE Christmas lunch was served in the village hall for members of the parish who had reached their three-score-and-ten and beyond.

Members of St Mary's School Let's Get Cooking club, under the guidance of Sheila Cox, came along to assist and provide entertainment.

This happy annual event is a great tribute to its many helpers who work so hard to make it such a success.

  • PUDDLETOWN Rocked recently when Mike Crankshaw and his family organised a charity fund raiser in memory of Mike's nephew, Adam Brown who died in Afghanistan in August.

The fund is still building, and Mike tells me that in excess of £9,900 has been raised now!

  • POP IN coffee mornings in the church room resume on Thursday, January 6 from 10am until noon.
  • LUNCH in the village hall will be held on Monday, January 10 from noon until 1.30pm.
  • TWENTY-FIVE members of the countrywomen's club enjoyed a wonderful Christmas flower arranging demonstration given by Geraldine Crowhurst.

The competition, A cherished Christmas Decoration, was won by Wendy Cox. Second was Dorothy Alder and third Thelma Coombes.

The club's AGM is on Wednesday, January 12 at 2pm in the village hall.

Tolpuddle

  • WASSAILING will be held on Friday, January 15 from 6.30pm.

The cost is £10 to include two glasses of mulled cider and a pork casserole supper at the Martyrs' Inn.

We will be visiting different parts of the village to serenade the apple tress to ensure a good harvest next year.

  • WAREHAM West Safer Neighbourhood Team would like to encourage residents to be extra vigilant over the Christmas period, as at this time of year properties are slightly more susceptible to theft.

The same can be said for motor vehicles whilst people are out shopping, we would encourage you to not leave any items of value on display either at home or in the car.

If you see or hear anything suspicious whether it's a vehicle or persons then please do not hesitate to call the police on 01202 222222.

Bere Regis

  • THE next meeting of the WI will be on Tuesday, January 18 at 7.30pm in the Drax hall when speaker Anne Mapham's title is The WI and Where it will Take You.

  • IDEAS and proposals are sought by the parish council as to how best to celebrate the Queen's diamond jubilee in 2012 with activities for our community to mark this historic date.

The council will be contacting all village club and societies for ideas and support.

  • A REMINDER that from time to time, the parish council considers requests from village clubs and organisations for financial support for project and events that are proposed and which contribute to the village
