HAVE a Brief Encounter with Dorset’s past at an afternoon of memories and nostalgia at the Evergreens Cinema on Wednesday, April 10.

See the classic British film Brief Encounter and a big screen presentation of Dorset’s Living Memories, Age UK Dorchester’s unique collection of stories and photographs from its website. This will take place at the Evergreens Cinema at the charity’s centre in Prince of Wales Road, Dorchester.

This special afternoon of memories and nostalgia is to celebrate the Dorset’s Living Memories website’s 10 years online.

In addition, the 1945 tear-jerker Brief Encounter, starring Celia Johnson and Trevor Howard, will be screened.

Margaret Wellspring, co-ordinator for the Dorset’s Living Memories project, said: “Our presentation will highlight some of our many photographs that we have on our website, hear stories from some of our contributors, in their own words, and it will be linked altogether with the inside story of how it was all achieved.

She added “This was and still is a wonderful project which encouraged many older people to recall things from the past and share their precious family photographs as well.

"In doing so, this enabled us to capture all those memories and images before they were lost forever. Our presentation showcases the best of this and pays tribute to all who contributed. And to top it all off, we are showing the classic Brief Encounter.
