A NEW material comedy night returns to the Lyric Theatre in Bridport on Tuesday (27).

Hosts Tom Glover and Niki McCretton will present a different line up of comedians each time, trying out their latest material in Laughs at the Lyric.

There will be a bucket collection on the night, so bring cash! Doors and bar open at 7.30pm for 8pm start.

*On Wednesday the Lyric will open its doors once again for Scratch and Spit: Panda-monium.

This, the fourth open mic night of its kind, will welcome a panda harmonium duo called Panda-Monium!

Panda-monium communicate a sense of fun through their music, seamlessly lifting the wellbeing of an unsuspecting public. Their work explores the relationship between Gestalt theory and counter-terrorism. They invite you to pass the philosophical parcel, to create a 90s rave with daytime glow sticks and to learn the ancient art of panda beatboxing.

Ever since they were cubs, Syd and Damian have been fascinated by the essential dissonance of harmony. What starts out as a musical picnic soon becomes transmogrified into a carnival of wasps, leaving only a sense of false geography and the inevitability of a new pair of trousers. As grammatical tenses become distorted by the proximity of osmotic sound barriers, the listener awards them the status of musicians in residence at the zoo of his or her dreams...

Pay what you feel, suggested £10 donation. Doors open at 7pm for 7.30pm start. Bring cash!

Anyone who would like to come and take to the stage for a five minute open mic slot, should arrive as close to 7pm as they can and sign up with Rob Casey (the host) who will allocate slots, and if over-subscribed, names will get drawn from a hat! If your piece is more like 10 minutes, please email Rob in advance to book: robertcasey@hotmail.co.uk
